FAQs
How many homes have you built?
In our 30+ years of business, we have completed hundreds of new home builds and renovations. See Our Work for some of our most spectacular projects.
Are you licensed (where required) and insured?
Erotas Custom Building is fully insured, and our State of MN Building License number is #BC004898; we have also obtained licenses in other states as needed. We attend continuing education courses throughout the Twin Cities to stay updated on the latest processes and requirements.
What type of warranty do you offer?
We warranty our work with the industry standard one/two/ten rule: For one year, we warranty defects caused by faulty workmanship or materials. For two years, we warranty defects caused by faulty insulation of heating, cooling, electrical, or plumbing systems. For ten years, we warranty the work completed on the home is free of “major construction defects.”
What are the major energy-saving features of homes you build?
Erotas is passionate about protecting our sensitive environment and select materials that will ensure your home is the most comfortable and energy-efficient it can be. This often includes insulated and air sealed walls, windows and doors, smart appliances, energy-conscious solar and electrical solutions, and water-saving plumbing features.
Who will oversee the construction of my home? Who should I contact with any questions I may have?
Every person on our team will be part of your project from beginning to end. Some of your primary contacts will be the project managers and site supervisors, but we are all here for you throughout the process.
How and when can I make changes or upgrades before and during construction?
We understand that plans change, and we have systems in place to capture and address these changes, including the associated costs, impact on schedule, and any additional details that may need to be relayed to the appropriate subcontractors.
How and when will the cost for building or renovating my home be determined?
We are an open book home builder. You see each invoice generated from every subcontractor involved in your home project. All selections are approved by you so that throughout the entire process, the total cost of your project is tracked. We are always here to answer your questions as they arise.
How often (and when) will I have access to the home during the building process?
Access is almost always available to you. We remind clients that this is a construction zone and there may be hazards. We encourage you to enter the project after consulting with us and also ask that you refrain from having family, friends, and guests visit the worksite until those risks are remediated.
How long will my home take to complete?
The duration of your project is dependent on the scope and complexity so there is no hard and fast guideline for the length of a build or renovation project. We know it won’t be done in a day!
What's your process for inspection at key points of construction, at final walk-through, and to address any matters that need to be corrected or finalized?
We are a team of thoughtful leaders, detail-oriented project managers, and innovative craftsmen and with over 30 years of experience, we are seasoned problem solvers. Through regular meetings with you and the necessary contributors – architect, designer, or subcontractors – we work hard to find creative solutions for any challenge that might arise.
